Like Moths.....

...to the flame
A couple nights ago Mary got some tickets to the women's hockey match. This was in the Hockey arena that was right by the Olympic stadium, so we had to walk past the Olympic flame.
Flame and Olympic Stadium
For what basically amounts to a giant cigarette lighter there is something magical about it. It's the irrefutable evidence that you are at an Olympics, and not some exhibition event or regional competition (as if the Olympic rings plastered all over everything make it easy to forget). We were really drawn to it.

Mary, Helen and Me. And the Flame. Again.
We amused ourselves taking some pictures of it and us.

Yes, more flame from the bus.
I got this later shot at night from the bus after Helen and I walked around for an hour trying to find it. A french camera crew gave us their map after they got into a cab. After determining that they had it upside down we only had to walk clear across the complex to find the bus. Never been so happy to see the MC-7 bus in my entire life!
