Hats off to the Men in Tights

Ok. In for a penny in for a pound. 2nd night of Men in Tights.

What struck me about so many of these guys is that they really must do it for the love of the sport. While the top 6 or 8 are the only ones that really have any chance of a medal or recognition (or lets face it lucrative endorsement deals), there are 20 other guys who slog it out, every day, and show up to give it their best.

This guy had no chance of a medal.

Even if that best means they score half of what Heir-spinmeister Evgeni scores. It really wasn't even fair. EP could have singled all his jumps, probably fallen once, gone out for a smoke, and still walked off with a medal. He was a Lexus in a sea of Chevrolets.

So hats off to the Men in Tights. They may not medal, hell they may not even make it through their program without falling ass backwards onto the ice. They may be the D-list athletes of their sport. Their best hope is to beat their personal best...even if its not very good. But they are here, they came for their olympic experience, and they took their shot. Bravo!

Noisy Russian Fans..
