The Looooongoto

Lingotto
Our printer fax (which I have named Fran) has been complaining about having no ink, so I stepped out today to the next door Lingotto to get some at the Saturn computer store. The store was clear the other end of the mall, so I had to go out through security, into the mall, and go down down down.

The interior

The helipad...
Like I said earlier the Lingotto is the old Fiat factory. Raw materials came in the bottom, then manufactured in various elements, then there was a track on the top where they would be tested. Later on they make this huge helipad and a big glass dome-shaped boardroom. Jono says that he thinks it looks like something out of a James Bond movie. There are also office spaces for rent and an art gallery with some of the Agnelli art collection.

Kids

Stage
When I was walking by there was a large Mc Donalds pavilion and a LOT of loud italian kids running by. Mary said it was some sponsor event. McDonalds is a big olympic sponsor, and there is a large one right at the entrance to the press center. Most people have sworn off it as we know its close, its cheap, and we'll probably end up getting way too much when things get really busy.

Other than that things are moving right along. More staff arrived yesterday so our little office is getting quite full!

The last night...opening ceremonies are tomorrow!
